Vietnam chairs 14th UNCTAD session

(VOVWORLD) - The 14th session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD 14) opened on Monday in Geneva, Switzerland, bringing together Heads of State and Government, ministers and other prominent players from the business world, civil society and academia to tackle global trade and economic development issues.

The session was chaired by Ambassador Mai Phan Dung, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the United Nations (UN), World Trade Organization (WTO), and other international organizations in Geneva, Switzerland.

The delegates discussed and proposed many specific solutions, including the latest developments in investment orientations and policies, business and science and technology for development; best practices in implementing business and investment policies to support sustainable development, and development directions in using digital business and investment support tools for the development of e-governments.

The fact that Vietnam was selected for the first time to chair the UNCTAD session shows the high appreciation of this agency and its member states for Vietnam’s policies and achievements in attracting investment and sustainable development, especially its priorities in digital transformation, green transformation, science - technology, artificial intelligence.

This is also an opportunity for Vietnam to demonstrate its positive and proactive role at UNCTAD in particular and other international forums of the United Nations in general.
