The Cam Lam-Vinh Hao Road has a total length of 79km, which connects with expressway from Ho Chi Minh city to Nha Trang city. The Dien Chau-Bai Vot project has a total length of nearly 50km, passing through Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces.

As these two projects come into operation, the total length the North-South expressway axis will be 1,187 km, raising the total length of expressways across the country to more than 2,000 km. In particular, these two sections will reduce traffic pressure on National Highway 1A and contribute to economic development and tourism demand stimulation.

Addressing the ceremony, Prime Minister Chinh emphasized that developing a synchronous and modern infrastructure system is one of three strategic breakthroughs, which have received special attention from the Party and State.

He requested the Ministry of Transport to maximize the effectiveness of expressway projects, ensure safe and effective use of newly-built roads, and construct accompanying utility projects such as rest stops and fuel supply stations.

The same day, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh surveyed the drought situation in Ninh Son district, inspected the Tan My irrigation project and directed the work of preventing and combating the impact of prolonged heat and drought in Ninh Thuan.

He requested Ninh Thuan to closely monitor the situation and implement measures to promptly and effectively respond to natural disasters and extreme weather, especially heat and drought, to minimize damage to production and impact on people's lives.

The PM said Ninh Thuan province must effectively operate irrigation systems to proactively store water to ensure that it meets the minimum need for crops when water shortage occurs, and at the same time, survey and identify areas at risk of water shortage to proactively carry out solutions to ensure water supply for local residents.

The Party and State will pay attention to removing water-related problems for Ninh Thuan, he said.
