Paris Olympics opening venue could change if threat detected
(VOVWORLD) -The Paris 2024 Olympic Games organizers have prepared alternatives to staging the grand event's opening ceremony on the River Seine if there are excessive security risks, French President Emmanuel Macron said Monday.

He said he’s confident France can successfully host the ceremony on the Seine in an unprecedented format: a parade of 160 boats will carry the delegations of athletes along 6 km of the river.
Macron noted that organizers are preparing contingency plans in case authorities perceive a risk of a terrorist attack.
Alternative locations for the opening ceremony are Trocadero Square in downtown Paris, opposite the Eiffel Tower, or the Stade de France stadium.
