Palestinian PM says Israel needs to adhere to ICJ decision

(VOVWORLD) - Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh has stressed the need for Israel to adhere to everything stated in the decision of the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

The Prime Minister described the court’s decision as vitally important, legally, politically, and humanely, as bringing in aid requires a ceasefire, a stop in the aggression, and allowing people to return to their homes, according to the Al Jazeera news channel.

He also welcomed the decision of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to refer the court’s decision to the Security Council, and demand an end to the aggression against the Palestinian people.

The Israel Defense Force (IDF) said earlier it will continue its military activity in Khan Younis in southern Gaza.

Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani said on Monday that officials from the US, Qatar, Egypt, and Israel made progress in talks aimed at securing the release of hostages held by Hamas in Gaza. The meetings resulted in a framework for a phased truce that would see Israeli women and children captives released first, with aid then entering the besieged Gaza Strip.
