Localities take care of the poor as Lunar New Year festival nears

(VOVWORLD) - The Red Cross's Tet market opened Sunday in Lao Cai province, where goods were sold for 0 VND to disadvantaged residents of in several communes in Lao Cai city.

Ms. Nong Thi Huan, a Tay ethnic resident of Hop Thanh commune, told VOV: Im a member of a particularly difficult household. Im very happy and honored to receive these gifts today. I’m grateful to the Red Cross, the city, and the businesses who always take care of people of Hop Thanh commune.”

On Sunday the Red Cross Society of Soc Trang province and the People's Committee of Vinh Chau town organized a "Zero Dong Market" session with the theme "Lunar New Year of Kindness - Spread love ”, where 600 gifts worth 8,200 USD were given to poor families, lonely elderly people, and ethnic minority children.

The Lunar New Year of Kindness movement was launched Sunday in Quang Ngai province, where the provincial Red Cross Society received donations worth more than 28,500 USD.

From now until February 7, Trade Union members and workers can purchase consumer goods at the "Trade Union Tet Market" on e-commerce platforms like Shopee and Tiki at discounted prices of up to 50%.
