Foodbank Vietnam makes its debut

(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam Red Cross Society has launched a foodbank project to prevent food wastefulness and support the poor. 20 volunteers have been selected to coordinate food sources and transport to social welfare centers.

Deputy Chairman of Vietnam Red Cross Society’s Protection Council, Nguyen Tuan Khoi, spoke at the launching ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday: “We try to ensure sufficient supply of food to 10 social welfare centers with 4,000 beneficiaries. We have connected with leading food companies and urged restaurants and organizations to join efforts in combating food wastefulness.”
