(VOVworld)- A Conference on the ASEAN Community’s building process opened in HoChiMinh city today. Attending the event, key members of municipal Party Committee of HCM City listened to Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Quang Vinh reviewed Vietnam’s commitments related to the ASEAN Community’s building.

Also reviewed were the operations of ASEAN over the past 46 years and the many challenges currently facing the ASEAN Community, such as differences in strategic priorities and national capacity, territorial disputes, conflicts and security challenges in the region, climate change, natural disasters, and epidemics. Action plans and the role of Vietnam in ASEAN from now until 2015 in promoting the building of the ASEAN Community were introduced to the attendees.
