An official statement by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs on social media platform X said the “failure to adopt the resolution allows for the Israeli occupation to continue its violations of international law without deterrence and will not bring the desired peace closer.”
The Saudi Kingdom also reaffirmed its support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and establishment of their Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and other relevant international resolutions.
Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates issued a statement urging the Security Council to recognize Palestine’s statehood and to prevent Israel from continuing to deprive Palestinians of their legitimate rights, including its right to freedom and establishment of an independent state. The common spirit of the international community is to support a two-state solution, said the Foreign Ministry.
Many other Arab and Islamic states in the Middle East and North Africa also demonstrated their disappointment.
